Kerrie Thorncroft, 42 Woolgoolga
I am a nurse at Coffs Hospital Dental Unit. I did Zumba, aerobics and walking for exercise but it didn't help me with my neck, lower back, migraines and weight. I started CrossFit last August 2010 and it has changed me forever. Mick talked me through as I progressed when I first started I could not squat or lift a bar, warming up was enough. Now I can do most things, dead lift (75kg now) lift a 20kg bar over my head and squat. Just give it a go I have now lost 13kg. CrossFit has all the benefits both mental and physical.

CrossFit has made me more have more explosive power and be able to last much longer in the cage.
Jase Long, 14 (Group 2 Rep Rugby League player) Toormina
Since I have been doing CrossFit I have noticed so many changes such as my speed, strength, fitness and flexibility. Before I came to CrossFit I thought I was fit until I had my first session, it stuffed me but it was worth it. I would recommend it for any one who loves their sport.
Brodie Delevante, 14 ( Group 2 Rep Rugby League player) Sawtell
Since I've been doing CrossFit, I am up to be 3rd month now I have noticed so many changes in speed, muscle growth, flexibility and core strength. I was lucky enough to get chosen for a Rabbitohs training session and noticed the changes when I was doing their drills, I was even fortunate enough to do sprints beside Nathan Merrit (NRL first grade winger for Souths) and ended up beating him in the first 12 metres. Also chucking medicine balls alot further than the other boys who were also chosen. CrossFit is just the best I feel fitter, stronger, quicker and better about myself.
Gary Delevante
I can't believe the change in my son Dion. He is a very promising tennis player and he has improved the speed of his tennis serve from 80km/h to 120km/h since his been training with CrossFit. His coach is very pleased, he can't believe the overall improvment in his strength at only 13 years old.
Debbie Rann 34 Coffs Harbour
Hi my name is Debbie Rann, I have been coming to CrossFit for 4 months and I have to say it has been the best thing for me and my family. I have been suffering with post-natal depression and other personal issues for the past 3 years and by coming to CrossFit 3 times a week it has helped me think better, I have heaps more energy and motivation so I have to say a big thanks to Mick for keeping me motivated.
Phil Michaels, Dip PE, Safety Beach
My name is Phil Michaels and I am 53 years young. All my life I have been interested in sports and all kinds of fitness training methods. It lead me to my chosen career of 29 years as a secondary PD/HE/PE teacher. I also hold level 1 & 11 Fitness Leaders Certificates.
For the past 2-3 years I had lost interest and motivation in gym workouts and most exercise regimes in general. I struggled to participate in almost all kinds of exercise on a regular basis. Yes; BURNOUT. Leading to loss of self-esteem and feeling most days as though I had hit a brick wall. Voila!! ……along comes Mick Lane and his expertise in implementing and strictly supervising CrossFit programs in a great location as you do.
At first I was both sceptical and unwilling to venture into another fitness craze or fad but then something clicked in my brain on 3/5/09. I knew I had to bite the bullet – throw away my apathy and engage in the CrossFit philosophies that Mick Lane had been prescribing. Being a member of Woolgoogla Surf Life Saving Club did help but when I started out in CrossFit I weighed 98kg; had non-elegant love handles and 13 years of continuous high blood pressure that required constant medication.
I am convinced after approximately 17 weeks that I have finally discovered a training technique that is providing me with good results and continued motivation. I am currently 92 kgs, lost half my love handles and feel much better within myself having much more energy. My last two doctor consultations have secured blood pressure readings of 120/80 which is normal. My reasons for endorsing CrossFit are;
* Workouts average 35-45 minutes making it time efficient for me, whole body functional exercise, I work at my own pace even they are timed, Mick is motivating , non-threatening supportive and succinct in his instruction, small workout groups making it easier to understand, the variety of exercises amazes me limited only by your imagination and an A grade setting with many sessions outside.
I now look forward to each session of sweat. Give it a go – I'm glad I did.
Felicity 33, Bucca.
My name is Felicity I am 33 years old and have been involved with 'CrossFit' for approx 4 months. At the age of 14 I was diagnosed with chronic Psoriatic Arthritis and by the time I was 16 the specialists told me I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 20. Daily I take a lot of medication to keep me functioning e.g. humira injection each fortnight, anti-immflamatories, chemotherapy (tablet form weekly), antidepressants.
Throughtout my life exercise has been very difficult as the specialists told me I could not do any sport that was to high impact I was allowed to participate in non impact which was hydrotherapy pool or Pilates – I felt like was not doing anything let alone I felt like an old lady!!!
Cross fit is unbelievable. I for the first time in my life feel like I am achieving something with fitness as well as being able to see the results. Our coach Mick Lane has been fantastic – if I am unable to do an exercise he will modify it for me and make it easier for my body. I can't thank Mick enough he is compassionate and understanding – but don't bludge he wont let you. But that's what I need someone to drive me. I could easily stay at home in bed – but "Cross fit" is actually very addictive. What I love is that you are only competing against YOURSELF!!!
Come along and watch and have a go give it a try and a decent try and I hope that "Cross fit" and "Mick Lane" can help and benefit you as much as what it has me.
